St. Charles triumphs over Tigers

Fenroy, Martin pace Comets in 56-6 decision
DONALDSONVILLE – The Comets of St. Charles led by running back Tyrell Fenroy and quarterback Jesse Martin dismantled a young Donaldsonville Tiger team 56-6 Friday night.
The Comets were up 42-0 at the end of the first half, and 49-0 within minutes of the start of the second half, after which the St. Charles starters sat out the remainder of the game.
Fenroy tore through Donaldsonville gaining 166 yards on 9 carries in the first half. On the Comets first play from scrimmage he broke past the Tiger line scorching his way up the left sideline for a 71-yard touchdown. The Comets led 7-0 with 9:48 left in the quarter.
Martin threw three touchdowns in the first half with five completions in eight attempts.
A short punt on the next Tiger possession gave the Comets the ball inside the Tiger 40-yard line. Fenroy quickly ripped off 33 yards, then waltzed through a gaping hole courtesy of the Comet offensive line for a 6-yard score.
The Comets again had good field position 33 yards from pay dirt with just over two minutes left in the quarter. After a 15-yard pass to Brian Matus, Fenroy gained 15 yards and Martin threw his first touchdown for a 21-0 lead.
Later in the half, the Comets recovered a Tiger fumble at the Donaldsonville 30-yard line. Fenroy picked up 20 yards, then Matthew Walters went in for the score with 7:28 left in the half.
The shell-shocked Tigers fumbled on the ensuing kickoff at their 17-yard line, and St. Charles went up 35-0 at with 7:12 remaining the half on Martin’s pass to Casey Robottom. Martin hit Robottom again with 36-yard pass making it a 42-0 rout at the half.
The Comets racked up 318 total yards to 95 for the Tigers in the half. They had 12 first downs compared to five for Donaldsonville.
Fenroy scored a 5-yard touchdown with 9:32 remaining in the third quarter, and a couple of minutes later Robottom ran back a 47-yard punt return to make it 56-0.
The Tigers finally got the scoreboard with 4:17 remaining on a nice 47-yard run by Demond Chatman. Donaldsonville failed on a two-point attempt and the score was 56-6.
