Jamie’s Dance Company selected to attend all Star KAR Kid Convention in New York City

Dance Company members from Jamie’s Dance Dimensions in Paulina, recently completed their 2004 competition season at the Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competition in Biloxi, Miss. At this competition, the entire dance team was selected All Star KAR Kids for their jazz routine to “Rhythm of the Night”, as well as the small group Hip Hop routine to “Dance Mix”. All members were invited to attend a weeklong convention in New York City this summer to study with renowned dance instructors from the city. The convention will include Workshops and Master Dance classes.
Under the direction of Jamie East, Owner and Director of Jamie’s Dance Dimensions, and Brandy St. Pierre, studio instructor, the girls took home several Overall and High Point Awards, as well as Photogenic, Title placements and Special awards in three other competitions held between January and May 2004. Dance company members include Gabrielle East, Jennifer Gravois, Meagan Doucet, Laiken Poche, Brooke Poche, Breanne Bourgeois, Paige Tassin, Heather Willis, Chelsea Poche, Brittany Gaudet, Megan Tassin, Brooke Roussel, Kailie Poche and Victoria Vick.
This Seasons Competition Results were:
At the Stage One Competition in Biloxi, MS, Gabrielle East received a High Point First Place and was named Teen Miss Stage One Star Runner-Up for her tap solo to “Because We Can”. Miss East also received a High Point First Place and Seventh Overall for her lyrical routine to “My Immortal”.
At the Showstopper competition in Mobile, Alabama, she received Platinum First Place for both tap and lyrical with Third Overall. At Talent on Parade in Baton Rouge, LA, Gabrielle took home a Top First Place and Fourth Overall in tap with a Top First Place and Fifth Overall for lyrical. Finally, at Kids Artistic Revue (KAR) in Biloxi, Miss East received a first place award for her tap routine and a Top First Place for her lyrical number.
Soloist Jennifer Gravois received First Overall and a High Point First Place for her tap solo to “Everywhere I Go” at Stage One. At Showstoppers, she received a Platinum First Place and Third Overall.
At Talent on Parade, Jennifer took home a Top First Place and at KAR, she received a High Point First and Tenth Overall. Paige Tassin received a High Point First and Third Overall award for her tap solo to “Sing, Sing, Sing”, as well as a third place photogenic award at the Stage One Competition. At Showstoppers, Paige was awarded a Gold First Place and Eighth Overall. While at Talent on Parade, she received a Top First Place and Fifth Overall, ending with a First Place at KAR. Tap soloist Heather Willis received a Stage One High Point First and Seventh Overall for her tap routine to “Pretty Little Angel Eyes”. At Showstoppers, she received a Gold First Place and at Talent on Parade a First Place. Finally, a First Place was awarded to Heather at KAR.
Chelsea Poche took home a High-Point Second Place and Fourth Overall award for her Jazz routine to “Respect” at the Stage One event and a High Point Second, Fourth Overall at Showstoppers. At both Talent on Parade and KAR, she received a First Place award. Laiken Poche won with a Fourth Overall and High Point Second Place for her Open routine to “Slave” at Stage One, as well as Gold First Place and Thrid Overall at Showstoppers. At Talent on Parade, she received a First Place and a Top Second at KAR. Brooke Roussell competed her jazz solo routine to “Toxic” for the first time at KAR and proudly took home a Top First Place and Third Overall.
The duet routine of Megan Tassin and Kailie Poche received a First Overall and High Point First Place award for their tap dance to “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” at the Stage One competition. Megan Tassin also received a second place prize in the photogenic competition. At Showstoppers, this duet received Gold First Place and Fourth Overall and at KAR this routine received a First Place. At Talent on Parade, Kailie Poche performed as a solo act taking home a First Place trophy. The tap duet of Jennifer Gravois and Brooke Poche to “Barbie Girl” was awarded a High Point First Place and Second Overall at Stage One. At Showstoppers, “Barbie” received a Gold First Place and Second Overall and at Talent on Parade a First Place. At KAR this routine was awarded a Top Second Place.
Group routines receiving awards:
Rhythm of the Night – This large group jazz routine which was performed by the entire Dance Company won a High Point First Place and took Second place in the Overalls at Stage One. At Showstoppers, this routine received a Gold First Place and Fourth Overall and at Talent on Parade a First Place. At KAR, this group received the special award of All Star KAR Kids and took home a High Point First Place as well as Third Overall.
Barracuda – This small jazz group of Breanne Bourgeois, Meagan Doucet, Gabrielle East, Jennifer Gravois, Brooke Poche and Laiken Poche was awarded a High Point First Place award, along with a Second place Overall at Stage One. At Showstoppers, the group received Silver Second Place and Ninth Overall and at Talent on Parade and KAR a First Place Award.
You Don’t, You Won’t – At Stage One, dancers Paige Tassin, Heather Willis, Chelsea Poche, Brittney Gaudet and Meagan Doucet won a High Point First Place for this Small Group Tap routine. At Showstoppers, a Gold First Place and Seventh Overall was awarded to these dancers. A Top First Place was received at Talent on Parade and a First Place at KAR.
In the Mood – In the Small Group Open category at Stage One, Paige Tassin, Heather Willis, Chelsea Poche, Brittney Gaudet, Breanne Bourgeois and Meagan Doucet won a High Point First Place for this routine. This group took home a Gold First Place and Third Overall at the Showstoppers competition with First Places being awarded at both Talent on Parade and KAR.
Baby I’m A Star – A High Point First Place was awarded to Brooke Poche, Laiken Poche, Jennifer Gravois and Meagan Doucet for this small group Tap routine at Stage One. At Showstoppers, the dancers received Gold First Place and First Overall and a First Place at Talent on Parade. At KAR, this routine received a High Point First Place and First Overall.
Pennsylvania 6-5000 – The small tap group of Megan Tassin, Brooke Roussel, Kailie Poche and Victoria Vick proudly took home a Fourth Overall and High Point First Place Award for this routine at Stage One. At Showstoppers, the girls received Platinum First Place and Second Overall. Talent on Parade awarded the girls with a First Place award and at KAR the group received a High Point First Place and Ninth Overall.
Why Not – In the Stage One Small Jazz Group Category, a First Place trophy was awarded to Paige Tassin, Megan Tassin, Brooke Roussel, Kailie Poche, Victoria Vick, Heather Willis, Chelsea Poche, and Brittney Gaudet. At Showstoppers, KAR and Talent On Parade, the dancers were awarded First Place ribbons.
DanceMix – This Hip-Hop routine, choreographed by Brandy St. Pierre, was performed for the first time at the KAR competition receiving a High Point First Place, Fifth Overall and a special KAR All Star Kid Award. Dancers invited to the New York KAR KID Convention for this routine included Paige Tassin, Brooke Roussell, Breanne Bourgeois, Chelsea Poche and Heather Willis.
