River Parishes Hospital recently held its first Service Excellence Celebration for 2004 and named its “4-Star” employee, Shannon Jackson, a Certified Nursing Assistant on the Medical/Surgical Unit.

Jackson normally works the night shift on the Medical/Surgical Unit. When her shift was over, she realized that the hospital was going have a nursing shortage on the following shift due to the high patient census. She immediately offered to work as long as her department needed her. As the “4-Star” employee, Jackson received a trophy and certificate, free meals in the hospital cafeteria for two months, a check for $200 and her photo displayed on the Wall of Excellence. She is nominated as Employee of the Year, to be announced at RPH’s Service Award function.
