RESERVE – Leading 3-2 going into the seventh inning, the Lutcher Lady Bulldogs allowed two runs to score, resulting in a 4-3 loss against Vandebilt. The game was part of the 2004 Rebel Classic, held at Riverside Academy.

With one out in the seventh, Vandebilt’s Collen Teibune and Meagan Price both walked to put runners in scoring position.

Gabby Lemaire then smashed a double that scored Teibun. However, the game ended KK Ellender was hit by a pitch, which forced Price in from third base.

Amanda Waguespack took the loss for the Lutcher, while Kristin Dominigue got the victory for Vandebilt.

The Lady Terrirers got on the board in the first inning. A lead-off single from Price and a walk to Lacee Chruma put runners on first and second with one out. Ellender, the clean-up hitter, then nailed a double to left that scored Price from second base.

In the top of the second, Lutcher responded with a run. With one out, Hillary Lambert and Waguespack reached base safely and moved up one base on a double steal. After Cassie Gravois grounded out, lead-off hitter Whitney Bourgeois hit a single that scored Lambert from third base.

Two more runs in the top of the third inning gave the Lady Bulldogs a 3-1 lead. The first four hitters of the third inning reached base for Lutcher.

Following a double by Keller, the second baseman, Katie Duhe hit a double, which scored Keller from second.

Duhe would then score from second on a single from Brittany Ocmand.

After Jenna Whitlow hit into a fielders choice, Dominigue settled down and got the next three hitters she faced out.

The bottom of the fourth saw the Lady Terriers score one run. With two outs and Lindsey Martinez on second, Teibune tried to stretch a double into a triple, but was thrown out at third. Her hit, however, scored Martinez from second.

Waguespack did not have difficulty in the next two innings. She got all six hitters she faced out. Likewise, Dominigue did not have trouble with Lutcher hitters. She only allowed one base runner in the fifth and sixth inning’s combined. Joyce Gravois was the lone Lutcher player to reach base.

Dominigue gave up three runs on seven hits while throwing all seven innings.

Waguespack, on the other hand, gave up four runs on four hits while pitching seven innings.

Bourgeois was the top hitter for Lutcher. She went two for four with two singles. Lutcher returns to action tomorrow when they play at Donaldsonville.
