St. John

BOWIE

Archie Donald Bowie, 45, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died March 30. He was the husband of Cynthia Washington Bowie and the father of Archie Donald Bowie Jr., Brian Baker, Chantell Washington, Toefield and LaChell Baker.

He also the son of McKinley Parker and the brother of Ralph Boone, Pitre Bowie, Calvin Parker, Patrick Parker, Glenda Parker, Mary Parker, Jackie Parker and Sheila Parker.

He is survived by two grandchildren.

Services were April 5 at St. James Methodist Church, New Orleans, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

CHAMBERS

GARYVILLE – Leona Chambers, 29, a native and resident of Reserve, died on March 29. She was the daughter of the Rev. Roosevelt and Theresa Chambers and sister of Daniel, David, Barry, Valorie, Latoya and Danielle Chambers.

She was also survived by three nephews, four nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services were April 3 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garyville with interment in Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

HAWKINS

Angelina Hawkins, 83, a resident St. Rose and Norco, died March 30. She was the mother of Preston Turley, Jr., Leroy, Curtis, David, Everett, Tyronne, Wayne, Lonnie, Darryl and Garrison Turley and Lorraine, Yvonne Mitchell and Geraldine Turley.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Rose Tilman Fisher, and the sister of Solomon Johnson and Elizabeth Mitchell.

She was also a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Laplace.

She is survived by 34 grandchildren; 71 great grandchildren and 21 great great grandchildren.

Services were April 6 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, LaPlace, with interment at Montz Cemetery.

LAURENT

RESERVE – Kenneth S. Laurent, 76, a native of Destrehan and resident of Reserve, died April 2. He was the husband by first marriage of the late Lautice Jones Laurent and by second marraige of the late Margaret Weber Catoire Laurent, and the father of Anna Taylor, David M. Laurent, Paul N. Laurent, Susan Pierce, and the late Stephen C. Laurent and stepfather of Darrell and Deborah Catoire, Jan Ladner and Patti Snyder.

He was also the son of the late Ernest and Laurence Laurent, and the brother of Jeanine Bernard, Phyllis Begault, Byron Landry and the late Ernest Laurent, Jr.

He is survived by seven step-grandchildren.

Services were April 5 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.

MATHEWS

AMA – Wilton “Bill” Mathews Jr., 72, a native of Raceland and resident of Ama, died March 29. He was the husband of Shirley W. Mathews and the father of Vernon , Jeffery, Brian, Pauline and Darren Mathews and stepfather of Edward and Margaret Murray.

He was also the son of the late Wilton Sr. and Lucreada Mathews, and brother of Ella Mae Chambers, Daisyette Tolliver, Julia Lewis, Clifford Washington, the late Gladys Dallon and Dorothy Williams.

He is survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Ama, with intermet at Mayflower Cemetery, Ama.

MCGUIRE

LAPLACE – Angela Edler McGuire, 48, a native and resident of LaPlace, died on April 2. She was the mother of James McGuire.

She was also the daughter of Lionel “Pickle” Edler, and the late Josie Milioto Edler, and sister of Marlene Duhe, Rory and Scott Edler.

Services were April 5 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Garden, LaPlace.

MCHALE

DES ALLEMANDS – Laura St. Amant Cantrelle McHale, 90, a native of Des Allemands and resident of Luling, died March 31. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Castler Cantrelle and by second marriage of Watler McHale and the mother of Kenneth, Carl Sr., Ronald Sr. and Kirk Cantrelle.

She was also the daughter of the late Camille St. Amant and Mary Trauth St. Amant, and sister of the late Doris Candies, Theomae St. Amant Matherne, Ernestine St. Amant Stiger, John O. St. Amant, Lawrence St. Amant, Eldon St. Amant and Ernest St. Amant.

She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services were April 5 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery, Des Allemands.

PERILLOUX

LAPLACE – Calvin L. Perilloux, 78, a native and resident of LaPlace, died April 2. He was the husband of Rose Marie Stagg Perilloux and father of Calvin Jr., John and Stephen R. Perilloux, and Helen K. Perilloux.

He was also the son of the late Lucien and Albertine Perilloux and brother of Anna Mae Schutz, Raymond, Leonard, Ronald and Brent Perilloux and Delores Millet.

Services were April 5 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at White’s Chapel Cemetery, Gold Dust, La.
