It was more than just a game. The charity basketball game between the St. Charles Catholic senior basketball players versus the SCC faculty was a fundraiser for the Relay for Life, a fund raiser for people with cancer.

The first-year event drew a huge crowd inside the St. Charles Catholic gymnasium. With the students leading 21-20 at halftime, the faculty took its first lead of the game at the 15:53 mark, 24-21.

After their head coach was ejected, the students rallied to grab a 15-point led with about eight minutes left to play. A 15-point lead was cut to 46-36 with 5:16 left in the game.

The students ended up holding on to a 52-46 victory. Nonetheless, both sides could claim victory afterward.

Faculty coach Perry Prudomme was so “upset” with the officiating that when asked if was going to protest the game his response was “yes”.

The event made a total of $842.
