Lady Comets still fighting for playoffs
The St. Charles Catholic Lady Comets kept their playoff hopes alive with a 61-48 victory over St. James last week in LaPlace. Brittany Vicknair and Angele Cupit provided the bulk of the scoring for the Lady Comets in the victory. Vicknair led all scorers with 19 points and Cupit finished with 16 points in the victory. The loss dropped St. James to 11-16 overall (3-3 district).
St. James wins close one over SCC
The St. James Wildcats picked up their second district victory of the season with a hard-fought 75-69 victory over St. Charles Catholic Friday night at Comets Gym. St. James had three starters in double figures in the victory. Ron Narcisse finished with 18 points, Nick Narcisse added 17 points and Jason Zennon finished with 12 points. Michael Bonura led the Comets in scoring with a game high 25 points.
WSJ wins title
Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade West St. John Elementary basketball team for winning the St. John Parish basketball championship. The championship was held three weeks ago at East St. John High School.
Perrilloux leads ESJ to victory
Ryan Perrilloux’s 26 points elevated the East St. John Wildcats to a 72-58 victory over Destrehan Friday night in Reserve. Darryl Pounds finished the game with 17 points for Destrehan. ESJ center Korey Raymond also chipped in with 15 points in the victory. The Wildcats defense shut down Destrehan in the second quarter, allowing only nine points. ESJ will return to action Friday night against HL Bourgeois.
Little League to hold registration for baseball each Saturday
St. John Little League will hold registration for the 2004 season from 9am-3pm on February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 6 at the Winn Dixie in LaPlace.
Ages 5-18 who live in the St. John Little League boundaries are eligible to enroll to play either baseball or girls softball.
Registration is required even if the child played previously. For more info, call Nick Noto at 652-3537.
Lady Cats keep on rolling with win over DHS
The East St. John Lady Cats ran their impressive record to 36-0 with a 70-46 destruction of rival Destrehan Friday night in Reserve. Erin Keller and Kojo Hamilton led the way for the Lady Cats. Keller finished with 22 points, while Hamilton finished with 15 points. Ashley Sentimore led the Lady Wildcats with 15 points. ESJ will end the regular season Friday night against HL Bourgeois.
