LAPLACE – Three people were treated for their wounds after a 32-year-old LaPlace man allegedly tried to murder them on New Year’s Day.
Capt. Michael Tregre of the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that King E. Honore, of 1811 Lee Drive in LaPlace, was booked with three counts of attempted second-degree murder.
According to Tregre, deputies responded to a call at 5:53 p.m. to a possible residential burglary. Upon arriving at Honore’s address, he saw one black male lying in the roadway, next to a white, four-door vehicle. The man had sustained a gunshot wound to his lower right leg.
When he stepped from his vehicle, the deputy saw a second man lying in the grass, with graze gunshot wounds. At this time, a woman approached the deputy and reported she had also been shot in the upper right arm and the back of her head.
Witnesses told the deputy the alleged gunman had gone into a neighbor’s house, made a phone call, and then entered his own house, where the deputy took Honore into custody without incident.
Tregre continued that the deputy was then approached by the neighbor, who gave consent to search her residence, where a 9mm handgun was located under a bench in the bedroom, where Honore allegedly placed a phone call.
Witnesses told the investigators, Tregre continued, that Honore had come out the rear door of his residence, holding a handgun, fired two shots at one man from the front porch of his home, then began chasing the man , firing six more times, hitting the car and the other two victims.
Upon questioning, Tregre reported, Honore was allegedly threatened by the three people, and that he feared for his life.
One alleged victim was transported to Charity Hospital for treatment of his wound, while the other two went to River Parishes Hospitals, where they were treated and released.
