BROWN

LUTCHER – Alvin “Bug” Brown Sr., 69, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Dec. 27. He was the father of Elanda Adams, Augustine Stacker, Leatrice Gaines, Alvin Jr., Allen and Carl Brown.

He was also the son of the late Isadore Brown Sr. and Alma Finley.

He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 2 at King Solomon Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina.

COLEMAN

BOUTTE – Earl “Bozie” Coleman, 71, a native and resident of Boutte, died Dec. 26. He was the husband of Ada Sandolph Coleman and father of Viola Scott, Ronald Coleman, and the late Earl Coleman Jr.

He was also the son of the late Viola Charles and Ernest Coleman Sr., and brother of Inez Carter, Beulah Smith, Genevia Robertson, Lois Watson, Ernest Coleman Jr., and the late Stella Harris.

He is also survived by three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

DOUGLAS

NORCO – Monroe Douglas, 89, a native of Scotlandville and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 28. He was the husband of Willie Mae Dees Douglas and father of Katie Grassberry, Earline and Ruth Riley, James Macon, Josephine Turley, Sarah Riley, Linda and Henry Dees, Hester Ellis, Monroe Dougas Jr., Ruby Cotton, Christine Joseph and Melvin Douglas.

He was also the son of the late Elnora James and Alexandria Douglas.

He is also survived by 40 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

EDWARDS

VACHERIE – Ronald “Chief” Edwards Jr., 37, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 27. He was the father of Breyon Mitchell.

He was also the son of Irma Johnson, and the late Ronald Edwards Sr., stepson of Ernest Johnson, and brother of Catherine Randle, Tassin Harris, Sharlene Jasmin, Ti Oddis Edwards and Michael Gros.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at St. Luke Cemetery, Moonshine. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

FOLSE

ST. JAMES – Frances Farace “T.J.” Folse, 84, a native and resident of St. James, died Dec. 29. She was the wife of the late Herbert Folse Jr., and mother of JoAnn Scioneaux, Lynda Luke, Suzanne Weber, Gwendolyn Pitre and Herbert Folse III, and the late Edward and Donald Folse.

She was also the daughter of the late Frank and Catharina Farace, and sister of the late Samuel and Camille Farace.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was a retired cook at the St. James High School cafeteria.

Services were Jan. 2 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church mausoleum.

HOWARD

LAPLACE – Laura Baker Howard, 92, a native of Lucy and resident of Reserve, died Dec. 26. She was the wife of the late Brother Gustave “Jack” Howard, and mother of Gladys Joseph, Mildred Dennis, LaBorah Francois, Rose Mary Walton, Isabella Gerard, Minister Deloris Millet, Elder Joyce Brown, Prophetess Laura Vampran, Jack, Easter and Dr. Rev. Freddie Howard, and stepmother of Barbara Breaux, and the late Gustave Howard Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Baker.

She is also survived by 78 grandchildren, 156 great-grandchildren and 78 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

LEWIS

RESERVE – Joseph B. Lewis Jr., 49, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 26. He was the father of Joseph “Joey” Lewis III.

He was also the son of Evelyn Lieteau Lewis, and the late Joseph Lewis Sr., and brother of Linda Lee, Cindy Boudreaux and Roland Lewis.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MALANCON

VACHERIE – Danielle Patrice Malancon, 32, a native of St. James and resident of Vacherie, died Dec. 30. She was the mother of Donrielle Malancon and fiancĂ© of Roland Broden Jr.

She was also the daughter of Steve and Debra Ann Malancon and sister of Contina Emery, Lyntrelle and Roxie Malancon.

She was an assistant activity director at Riverland Health Care Center.

Services were Jan. 2 at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at St. Luke Cemetery, St. James.

MARTEL

METAIRIE – William Howell Martel Sr., 81, a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling for 16 years, died Dec. 30. He was the husband of the late Hazel T. Martel, and father of James and William Martel Jr.

He was also the son of the late Louis Martel Sr. and Helen Maud Bush, and brother of Marjorie Werner and Louis Martel Jr.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

He was a decorated U.S. Navy medic during World War II and a retired composing room employee of the Times-Picayune.

Services were Jan. 2 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, with interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.

PFISTER

DESTREHAN – Adele Mary Vicknair Pfister, a native of Whitehall and resident of Norco, died Dec. 29. She was the wife of the late Vincent Pfister, and mother of Sue Schoeler, V.J. Jr., Gene and Roy Pfister.

She was also the daughter of the late Felix and Drine Berthelot Vicknair and preceded in death by two brothers.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 31 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.

RODRIGUE

ST. JAMES – Annise Rodrigue Jr., 65, a native of Welcome and resident of Donaldsonville, died Dec. 28. He was the son of the late Annise Sr. and Leana Young Rodrigue, and brother of Stella Cantrelle, Oral Lee Whittington, Anna Lee Boudoin, Emily Bernard, Clinton Jr. and Sylvester Roberts, and the late Bernice Jenkins, Netter Sr. and Oliver Rodrigue Sr.

Services were Dec. 31 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

VICKNAIR

LAPLACE – Thomas M. Vicknair, 61, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 31. He was the husband of Lou Anne Vicknair and father of Sharon Freeman and Alvin “Chop” Vicknair.

He was also the son of Freida, and the late Alvin Vicknair.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services were Jan. 2 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
