Lady Cats drop district opener to Ellender
The Destrehan Lady Cats dropped its district opener to Ellender last Friday night, 55-35. Johynneshia Luckett finished with 10 points for the Lady Wildcats. Brittany Clark had five points in the loss to the Lady Patriots. Destrehan’s offense struggled throughout the game.
They only scored in double digits in one quarter. Ellender outscored them 22-9 in the first quarter.

Eagles win at American Press Tournament
The Reserve Christian Eagles made it two in a row in the American Press Tournament with a 83-73 victory over Pensacola, Fla (High School). The Eagles jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the first quarter. Pensacola mounted a comeback in the second half, but made free throws by Demond “Tweety” Carter down the stretch sealed the victory for Reserve Christian.

HHS Lady Tigers defeat OP Walker
The Hahnville Lady Tigers picked up a non-district victory Thursday afternoon over O.P Walker in New Orleans. The Lady Tigers were led by Marquita Hill, who finished with 20 points, as well as Shunta Isaac, who also contributed with 20 points. Whitney Scott finished with 10 points in the victory. Hahnville stepped up its defense in the third quarter by allowing only six points.

LaPlace native named to All-Sun Belt team
LaPlace native and ULL place kicker Sean Comiskey has been named to the All-Sun Belt team for 2003. He was a perfect 10 of 10 on field goals in SBC play this year and accumulated the most scoring points by any SBC kicker (53). He also made 12 of 15 field goals during the season. His only misses were from 52, 50 and 43 yards.

Wildcats pick up win at Brusly Tournamet
The St. James Wildcats picked up a victory in the Brusly Tournament with an 86-45 win over Louisiana New School. Ron Narcisse led the way for St. James by scoring 15 points. Also contributing in the victory for the Wildcats was Jerrell Price and Nick Narcisse. Price finished with 10 points, while Nick Narcisse added eight. St. James held LNS to only four points in the third.

University fall to Reserve Christian
Even LSU signee Glen Davis could not stop the Reserve Christian Eagles from defeating University in the second night of the American Press Tournament. The Eagles scored the final seven points to defeat the Cubs, 72-65 in Lake Charles. George Brozos led Reserve Christian with 22 points, while Demond “Tweety” Carter finished with 18 points and Marlon Brumfield had 19.

Eagles fall to Peabody
After going 2-0 in the American Press Tournament, the Reserve Christian Eagles fell to Peabody this past Saturday. A barrage of 3-point shots by Reserve Christian (16-2) could not come back from an 18-point deficit. Reserve Christian hit eight 3-point shots and were led by sophomore Demond “Tweety” Carter, who finished with 24 points and hit six three-point bombs.

Saints fall to Buccaneers
New Orleans Saints’ playoff hopes got a severe setback on Sunday when the Black and Gold dropped a division game to the Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneeers.
Quarterbak Aaron Brooks added four fumbles to his team high of 13 for the season. He has lost nine fumbles this year.
In addition, running back Deuce McAlister’s was held to 69 yards on 20 carries to end his nine game streak of running for 100 or more yards in a game.
The Saints (6-7) face the New York Giants next Sunday night on an ESPN game.
