CHAMPAGNE

MARRERO – Almonia “Plum” Champagne, 84, a native of St. James and resident of Marrero for 56 years, died Nov. 30. She was the wife of the late Raymond Champagne Sr., and mother of Victoria Williams, shelia Holmes, Darlene Coleman, Raymond Jr., Harrison, Adam, Norman, Bruce and Kenneth Champagne.

She was also the daughter of the late Tresmond and Angelica Bright Sr.

She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

She was a retired employee of Robinson/Ed Martin Seafood Co.

Services were Dec. 6 at St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church, Marrero, with interment at Mt. Calvary Baptist Cemetery, Welcome.

GEASON

LUTCHER – Alice Young Geason, 66, a native of Reserve and resident of Gramercy, died Dec. 6. She was the wife of the late Edward Geason, and mother of Lisa Watson, Darlene Joseph, Naketia Washington and Daryl Geason.

She was also the daughter of Julia Clay Young, and the late Clarence Young Sr., and sister of Elouise Johnson, Ledger Smith, Edward and Clarence Young Jr., and the late Sterling Young.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Services are Dec. 13 at 11 a.m. at King David Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

OCKMAN

LAPLACE – Lydie Boudreaux Ockman, 87, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace for 10 years, died Dec. 3. She was the wife of the late Luis Ockman and mother of Leo Ockman.

She was also the daughter of the late Walter and Alice Boudreaux, and sister of the late Victoria Duhe, Thomas and Elmore Boudreaux.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 5 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

VANCOURT

CONVENT – Rose Mary “Mama Rosa” Vancourt, 77, a native of Convent and resident of New Orleans, died Nov. 29. She was the mother of Rosalynn Simmons.

She was also the daughter of the late Mitchell and Felonsie Vancourt, and sister of Alberta Jones, Irving, Dennis and Audrey Vancourt.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were Dec. 6 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Convent, with interment at the church cemetery.
