HAHNVILLE – An off-duty corrections officer with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office is on administrative leave following a two-vehicle accident Oct. 5 in Boutte.

The officer, Timothy Bush, 22, was charged by Louisiana State Police with DWI and careless operation of a motor vehicle, according to spokesman Trooper Omar Landrum.

Bush was westbound on U.S. Highway 90 at 2:50 a.m., Landrum said, in a green 2002 Toyota pickup truck. When Bush approached the intersection of Paul Maillard Road in Boutte, he reportedly rear-ended a 2000 Chevrolet truck driven by Perry J. Terrebonne, 44, of Lockport.

Both vehicles were in the right lane, Landrum said, and there were no reported injuries.

Landrum continued that Bush refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test to determine his sobriety, and was arrested.

Bush has been employed by the sheriff’s office since June 24, 2002, according to Capt. Patrick Yoes of the department. The officer was placed on administrative leave, following standard procedure. Also following standard procedure, his home address was not provided.
