CST to air college football
LSU, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Southern University, McNeese State, Nicholls State, SLU, UL Monroe, UL Lafayette, and Southern Mississippi will be have their football games broadcast this fall by Cox Sports Television either live or on a tape-delay basis. Coverage begins August 30 with Arkansas-Monticello versus SLU in Hammond.

St. Charles recreation to hold registration
Fall baseball, football, cheerleader and girls biddy basketball registration will be Saturday, August 23 at Westbank Park Bridge from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Registration make ups will be August 30 at Westbank Bridge Park from 9:00-11:00 A.M. Cut off date for age group is August 1. Ali vs Martin to box
on Gulf Coast
Perhaps their biggest female boxing match of all time is coming to Biloxi, August 23 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum. Laila Ali, daughter of Muhammed Ali, will battle Christy Martin in a 10-round bout. Tickets start at $15 and are on sale at Ticketmaster. Bell time is 8 p.m.

Crushers to hold tryouts
Tryouts for the 2004 Louisiana Crushers 16-U softball team are scheduled for August 16 and 17. Tryouts will be from 9:00 A.M – 1:00 P.M on Saturday and on Sunday from 1:00 P.M – 5:00 P.M. The Crushers will practice during September and play in five fall tournaments before taking a winter break. For more info check out www.crushersfastpitch.org. Saints face Jets Saturday
The New Orleans Saints will travel this Saturday to the Meadowlands to face the New York Jets led by third year pro quarterback Chad Pennington and running back Curtis Martin.
The game begins at 7 p.m. and will be televised locally by WWL TV.

Saints break all-time season ticket sales mark
Tom Benson, the owner of the New Orleans Saints was all smiles as he announced the season ticket sales for this year has set an all-time mark of 53,313. The team surpassed the previous high amount set in 1988 after the Saints posted their first winning season under coach Jim Mora.
