Beak speaks at SCB reception

St. Charles Borromeo School in Destrehan recently held its annual Sports and Cheerleader Reception in the schools gymnasium. Students were recognized for participating in boys sports, girls sports and for being a school cheerleader.

The guest speaker was Chip Beak, assistant offensive coach for the New Orleans Saints.

Beak emphasized that the value of sports is not just the athletic skills learned. Athletes at all levels of sports must also learn the skills of trust, decision making, time management, preparation, practice, and good sportsmanship.

This year’s record for the GIRLS season is as follows:

Seniors Volleyball, 6-2 record; 2nd place in the River Parish Athletic League;

Juniors Volleyball, 8-0 record; River Parish Athletic League Champions lost in semi-finals of the City Playoffs; final record 10-1;

Senors Basketball, 6-4 record; 3rd place in the River Parish Athletic League; 2nd place in the Final Four;

Juniors Basketball, 10-0 record; River Parish Athletic League Champions; Final Four Champions; lost in quarter finals of city championship;

Softball, 7-0 record River Parish Athletic League Champions;

This years record for the BOYS season is as follows:

Senior Flag Football, 2nd place in the River Parish Athletic League;

Senior Basketball, 2nd place in the River Parish Athletic League; 1st place in the Final Four Tournament.
