RESERVE – The West St. John Rams took an overwhelming bite out of the Riverside Rebels early in the first half of Friday night’s game and stayed ahead throughout for the 100-52 win.

After demolishing the Rebels by scoring two goals for Riverside’s one through the first two quarters, the Rams slowed their pace, allowing the Rebels to cut into their lead. The home team’s scoring spurt ended when the Rams jumped back for their rebounds and regained control of the game. Although the Rebels were still threatening, the Rams started up another two and 3-1 scoring drive and built their lead up to 52-28 at the half way mark. The Rams head coach Antoine Edward said his team was working together in all the right ways, which resulted in an overall great game. At halftime, Edwards told his players they had to continue their fierce momentum and not give the Rebels a chance to comeback.

The Rebels came back in the second half, but could not keep the ball long enough to bring their score back up. The Rams defense blanketed the court in the third quarter, forcing turnovers and allowing their offense to outscore Riverside by the largest margin of the game, 29-12. Where most teams hope to finish the game in the lead with 70 or 80 points, the Rams were finishing the third quarter with 81. With eight minutes remaining, the Rams defense controlled the tempo, keeping the Rebels in check by allowing only another 12 points. Almost as if the game were orchestrated for the final score, the Rams ended the night at the century mark, with the 100-52 win. Devin Herbert was one of six Rams to finish the night in the double digits for points. Herbert raked in 17, while partners Josh Lumar and Sandy Harris scored 16 and 15. Quinn Johnson accounted for 12 points, while Lionel Howard and Brad Boudoin rounded out the group with 10 points each.
