Riverside track and field takes district title

(Staff Photo by Daniel Tyler Gooden) EDGARD- Riverside boys’ track and field team took first place in the District 9-2A Championships at West St. John High School Wednesday. The Riverside Lady Rebels couldn’t quite manage the same feat though, placing second overall behind Newman. The Riverside boys scored 158 points and won their sixth district title, beating Newman (129 points) and West St. John (82 points). The Riverside Lady’s team scored 149 points, only one point behind Newman (150 points). Overall, the Riverside boys took nine field medals and won five track events, while the girls won three relays and took six medals.
