A community meeting on the formation of a regional transit system for the River Parishes area begins at 6 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish School Board Meeting Room, 13855 River Road in Luling. For more information call (985) 851-2900.
A Baháí class, “Spiritual Relationships,” begins at 7:30 p.m. at Joans Preschool Building, 1712 Carrollwood Drive in LaPlace. Cost is $5 to cover the cost of materials for this series, which continues every Wednesday until April 4. Free childrens activities will be offered during the adult classes. Free art classes for St. Charles Parish senior citizens, age 60 and up, are from noon to 3 p.m. at the New Sarpy Senior Citizen Center. The class is taught by local artist and member of the Le Petit Art Guild Edie Corso. Supplies are furnished by St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department. Book signing by St. John resident and author, Consuelo Vappie Alexander, is from 5-9 p.m. at 146 E. 26th St., Reserve. Alexander is the author of “A Book of Poetry Written in Folks Language.”

Fire hydrant testing in the LaPlace area will be done by the LaPlace Fire Department. Residents may experience brown water temporarily.

Sicilys pizza coupons for Nalcos Relay for Life fund-raiser are available by calling Julie at 535-4111 or 535-2221. Sicilys is offering 20 percent of sales from these coupons on March 28, April 4 and 11 to benefit Relay for Life. Coupons can be used for lunch or dinner, dine-in or carry-out.

The 2001 Great American Clean-up, a clean-up/beautification of the East St. John High School campus, begins at 2:30 p.m. The LaPlace Rotary Club and East St. John Interact Club is teaming up with other volunteers for trash pick up, pruning of trees, restoring plant beds, mulching and some tree and bush removal. Volunteers are needed with their own tools and gloves, etc. Latex gloves will be provided. Anyone interested in serving as a coordinator should call Dean Torres at 651-9118.
A jewelry sale, to benefit River Parish Hospital Auxiliarys scholarship fund, is from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the hospitals Medical Pavilion conference room on the third floor. For information call River Parishes Hospital.
Our Lady of Grace Church Lenten fried fish dinners will be sold from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Knights of Peter Claver Hall on Chad Baker St. in Reserve. Dinners are $5 each. Fish balls, side items and desserts will also be sold. The event is a fund-raiser for the chuch and school. Call 536-4030.

The Monsignor Eyraud K.C. Council 2436 Founders Day banquet takes place at the K.C. Hall in Reserve. Following a quarterly communion at the 5 p.m. vigil Mass at St. Peter Church, the knights will have a short social before the banquet at 7 p.m. New Wine Christian Fellowship mens ministry prayer breakfast begins at 9 a.m. at the church, located at 1929 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace. Men and boys ages 12 and up are invited to attend. Guest speaker will be Steve Israel of the New Orleans Saints. RSVP by calling the church at 653-0008 by March 28.

Riverlands SPCA adoptions are taking place at PetsMart, 8660 Airline Highway, Baton Rouge, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
The American Diabetes Association Tour for Cure bike ride begins at 8 a.m. at Fountain Blue State Park in Mandeville. Riders can opt for 25-50 or 75 mile rides. Proceeds from the fund-raiser will go towards finding a cure for diabetes, summer camps for children with diabetes and various other diabetes programs.
