LAPLACE – Frank Carl Alexander, 50, a native of Hammond and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 4. He was the husband of Jo Ann Morris Alexander and stepfather of Averill Smith and Ashanti Carter.He was also the son of Willie and May Alexander and brother of Patricia, Charles Ray, Robert, Larry and the late Glenn Alexander.He is also survived by one grandchild.He was an insurance agent for State Farm.Services were Feb. 7 at New Union Christian Fellowship, LaPlace, and at First Church of God in Christ, Hammond, with interment at Holly Garden Cemetery, Hammond.BECNEL
VACHERIE – Virgie M. Becnel, 63, a native of Thibodaux and resident of Vacherie, died Feb. 6. She was the wife of the late Steven J. Becnel and mother of Veronica Folse and Matthew and the late Cornelia Becnel.She was also the daughter of the late Joseph and Odessa Trosclair Morvant and sister of Rita Stein and Murphy and Earl Morvant.She is also survived by four grandchildren.Services were Feb. 8 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.BOURGEOIS
PAULINA – Russell Joseph Bourgeois Sr., a resident of Paulina, died Feb. 8. He was the husband of Mary Michel Bourgeois and father of Todd, Troy and Russell Bourgeois Jr.He was also the son of the late Alvin Bourgeois and Evelyn Andermann and brother of Alvin “Jay” and the late Wayne Bourgeois.He is also survived by seven grandchildren.Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum. HAHNVILLE – Anthony “Chuck” Byrd, 62, a native of Hahnville and resident of Destrehan, died Feb. 4. He was the father of Kenneth Marshall, Bridget Miller, Sonya Miller, Carol Mallory and Juan, Aaron and Chad Byrd.He was also the son of the late Theresa Martin and Joseph Byrd and brother of Catherine White, Emelda Smith, Heidi Menedez, Mary Clark, Gladys Crachian and Sybil Davis, Ida, Freddie and Andrew Martin.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.He was also the companion of Dianne Powell.Services are today at 11 a.m. at True Vine Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling. RESERVE – Carolee “Teta” Fremin Triche, 65, a native of Garyville and resident of Reserve for 46 years, died Feb. 6. She was the wife of Lawrence P. Triche and mother of Lawrence A., Adrian, Calvin, Lisa and the late Jackie Triche.She was also the daughter of the late Adam and Annie Duhon Fremin and sister of Ronald Fremin.She is also survived by five grandchildren.Services were Feb. 9 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.
