Commitments keep coming in final days

Five more locals commit; National Signing Day today

BOUTTE – Five more commitments over the past week brought the number of local athletes commiting to 11 in the final days of the recruiting period. National Signing Day is today. Hahnville’s Aaron Alexander committed to the United States Military Academy. Alexander was an all-District 7-5A selection in 2000 after helping the Tigers to the district championship and an appearance in the state regionals with an 11-1 record. He played both wide receiver and tight end in his prep career. Dale Lirette becomes the second Hahnville player to commit to Louisiana-Monroe this season, joining defensive lineman Lloyd Brimmer. Lirette, a Class 5A all- State and all-District 7-5A selection as an offensive lineman, chose Louisiana-Monroe over Central Arkansas. Hahnville defensive lineman Al Fiffie committed to Southern, choosing the Jaguars over Central Arkansas, Nicholls State and Alabama State. Fiffie was an honorable mention all-State selection in 2000. Lutcher defensive linemen Chris Lee and Courtney Long both committed to Henderson State. Long and Lee were both all-District 9-3A picks in 2000.
