LUTCHER – The recruiting season is getting into full swing as National Signing Day draws closer and closer. Lutcher defensive back David Pittman became the fourth local player to commit this recruiting period, committing to Northwestern (La.) State early this week. Pittman joins teammate Chris Johnson and Hahnville’s Dawan Landry and Lloyd Brimmer on the River Parishes commitment list. Pittman earned all-District 9-3A and honorable mention all-River Parishes honors in 2000. The senior intercepted three passes and recorded 50 tackles in helping the Bulldogs capture their second straight District 9-3A championship and advance to the state regionals. Pittman was also a member of Lutcher’s Class 3A state champion 4×400 relay team in outdoor track last season. He also placed fifth in the 400. Northwestern State has been an attractive site for local players in recent years. Since 1995, East St. John’s T.J. Sutherland, Destrehan’s Germond Williams and St. James’ Philip Jessie have signed with the Demons.
