ST. JOHN – Homes are filling with Christmas trees for the holidays. After New Years those same trees will start filling front yards, as theyre set out for pickup. St. John Parish Department of Public Works will pick up Christmas trees curbside on the following dates: Eastbank: LaPlace, Jan. 3; Reserve, Garyville, and Mt. Airy, Jan. 4. Westbank: Wallace, Edgard and Lucy, Jan. 4. Christmas trees must be put curb side by 8 a.m. on the date scheduled for pickup. After the above dates, residents can drop off Christmas trees at a roped off area located across from the courthouse water tower in LaPlace at Parish Road. The trees will be used to construct coastal restoration projects in St. John Parish, funded by a grant through the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources.
