Hahnville takes district pit stop

BOUTTE – Hahnville has grabbed the driver’s seat in the race in District 7-5A.

This week, the Tigers will take a pit stop from district play before heading into the final stretch, hosting Brother Martin Friday night.

Hahnville improved to 4-0 in district and 7-0 overall with a 55-19 win at home over South Lafourche Friday night. The Tigers rolled up 393 yards in offense,263 coming on 42 carries. Dawan Landry carried 12 times for 95 yards andfour touchdowns. He also completed 7-of-12 passes for 130 yards and atouchdown.

Skyler Boyle scored on the ground and on a reception and Charles Taylor added a touchdown run. Mark Young returned a punt 33 yards for anothertouchdown.

The Hahnville defense held South Lafourche, the third-leading scoring team in the district, to 252 yards and 11 first downs while forcing four turnovers.

The offense is the most prolific in the district with 279 points in three games. Landry has completed 40-of-89 passes for 629 yards and seventouchdowns. He has added another 13 touchdowns on the ground. Boyle hasrushed for over 600 yards and 10 touchdowns while Young has gone over the 300-yard mark in receptions.

The defense has also gotten the job done, holding opponents to just over 10 points per game, second in the district behind Destrehan. It has given up 350yards in the last two games while forcing six turnovers during that time.

Brother Martin dropped a 28-0 decision to Rummel Saturday. With the loss,the Crusaders dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in District 10-5A.

The offense is led by quarterback Evan Trapani who has passed for over 600 yards and five touchdowns. Joining him in the backfield will be Ron Bullock andGerald Robertson.

Corey Price and Craig Smith are the receivers and Chris Bailey the tight end.

Center Brian McDonough and guard Brad Fuselier are the lone seniors on the line.

The defensive line is more experienced with ends Ben Dichiara and B.J.Kenney and tackle Adlen Miller. Joey Guercio and P.J. Triche lead thelinebackers. Chad Robattom is the lone senior in the secondary.
