BOUTTE – A Paradis woman died at the scene of a one-vehicle accident Wednesday morning as her 1990 Chevrolet Camaro went out of control and ejected her.

Shelly Prince, 31, 150529 Old Spanish Trail, was westbound on Old Spanish Trail in the Mozella area, the road running parallel to U.S. Highway 90opposite Hahnville High School.

Trooper Kevin Cannatella of Louisiana State Police Troop B reported that Prince lost control of the vehicle at 8:13 a.m. and slid into the ditch. Thevehicle continued until it struck a cement culvert, which caused it to flip and spin counter-clockwise.

It then struck a fire hydrant and, as it re-entered the roadway, went airborne, throwing Prince from the vehicle.

She was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:45 a.m. by Rob Gilder of the St.Charles Parish Coroner’s Office.
