Two men charged in separate murder attempts

HAHNVILLE – Two men were charged with attempted murder in St. CharlesParish in separate incidents this week.

Horace Joseph, 21, 827 Milling Ave., Luling, was charged with attemptedmurder after he allegedly stabbed a man July 1 at 12:30 a.m. with anunknown object as the victim danced with a female friend in the American Legion Hall in Ama.

Capt. Patrick Yoes reported that Joseph then left the dance and was laterapprehended at his home.

In the other incident, Ernest Lee Taylor, 49, 240 First St., St. Rose, wascharged with attempted murder after he became involved in an argument with his girlfriend at his apartment on July 2 at 9:15 p.m.She left the residence and returned later to talk to him. He met her at thedoor with an aluminum baseball bat and chased her.

Yoes added that Taylor then struck her in the leg with the bat, knocked her to the ground, then repeatedly struck her in the back of the head with the bat and left her on the ground outside the apartment.

He was arrested July 5 on a warrant and booked. She was taken to thehospital for treatment after responding deputies found her on the ground, still conscious.

No information was available as to her condition.
