LEAP progress discussed

LUTCHER – The St. James School Board met June 27 and conducted thefollowing business: Janie Vee Henderson, assistant superintendent, briefed the board on the progression of the LEAP summer remediation program.

Information was presented to the board for action at the next meeting, including: progress reports, testing and report card schedules; revisions to the Pupil Progression Plan; revisions to student policy manual; and renewal of biennial contracts.

Two buses were sold to Shelby Oubre for $50 a piece. The board suggestedthat Oubre should be offered the other four, since for the second round of open bidding, no one else made any bids on them. Oubre will be offered theremaining buses if there is no legal confliction found.

Patrick Ricks was hired to teach at Lutcher Junior High. Cindy Steib washired at Lutcher Elementary. Both new contracts become effective Aug. 17. Donald Schexnaydre of St. James High and Yann Abily of Lutcher JuniorHigh resigned from their positions as teachers.

Monday, July 3, was declared a holiday, giving school system employees the day off.
