Luminais takes 12th in Junior Tour event

COLUMBUS, Miss. – Steve Luminais Jr. of Reserve shot a 13-over par 157 totie for 12th at the Gulf States PGA Junior Tour’s Ray Hoskins Invitational this weekend at Columbus Country Club.
Luminais had scores of 77 and 80 to tie Michael Birtel of New Orleans.
Luminais, who helped Riverside to the Class 2A title this spring, finished ninth in the 16-17 age group.
Sam Wilcox of Columbus won the tournament with a 7-over par 151 that included rounds of 73 and 78. Wilcox also won the 16-17 age group. ChadBailey of Shreveport and Nat Bhanthumachinda of Harvey tied for second at 8-over 152.
Brock Waguespack of LaPlace had rounds of 86 and 87 to tie for 42nd with three other players at 29-over par 173. Waguespack tied for 19th withDannie Barlow of Ferriday in the 14-15 age group.
Luminais also tied for ninth at the Canton Classic held at Canton Country Club earlier this month. Luminais shot an 8-over par 152 that includedrounds of 75 and 77 to tie Justin Ougel of Raceland.
Dry Prong’s Neithan Allen placed first with a even-par 144. Luminais’Riverside teammate, Brett Bergeron of LaPlace, and Kevin Jones of Crystal Springs, Miss., were second with 3-over par 147s. Waguespack tied threeothers at 52nd with a 175, Destrehan’s Vance Core was 67th with a 202.
Bergeron was second in the 16-17 age division while Luminais was seventh. Waguespack tied for 22nd with two others in the 14-15 agegroup. Core was 35th.
