Smith, Venus leads RCS at District 6-B track meet

RESERVE – Reserve Christian placed fifth in its first District 6-B Meet Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles finished with 41 points. Northlake Christian won the districtchampionship with 161 points, followed by Hosanna with 83. Phoenix wasthird with 78 points and Doyle fourth with 69. Bethany was sixth with 34,followed by Holden with 28.

Greg Smith paced the Eagles with a second place finish in the 1,600 meters and a third in the 3,200. He had a time of five minutes, 43.6 seconds in the1,600, finishing behind Bethany’s Greg Boyd’s 5:19.9. Boyd also won the3,200 in 12:32.0 in winning Outstanding Track Performer honors. Smith hada time of 12:38.0 in the event.Reserve Christian’s Marshall Williams took third in the 100 in 11.62.Phoenix’s Calvin Randall took first in 11.42, followed by Northlake’s SimonFlarity’s 11.49. The Eagles’ Addison Ellis took third in the 200 in 26.36.Doyle’s Michael Dox was first in 23.98.The Eagles’ 400-meter relay team was second in 47.64. Phoenix won thedistrict title in 46.85. In the girls’ events, Mary Venus won the discus to help the Lady Eagles to a sixth-place finish.

Reserve Christian finished with 23 points. Northlake Christian was thedistrict champion with 147 points, edging out Bethany who finished with 145 points. Hosanna was third with 63 points, followed by Holden with 57 andPhoenix with 56.

Venus won the discus with a throw of 86-3. She also place second in the shotput with a throw of 29-7.5. Phoenix’s Latria Barthelemy, who placed secondin the discus, won the event with a throw of 33-6.

Northlake Christian swept the individual awards with Emily Swinford being named Outstanding Track Performer and Jessica Berry Outstanding Field Performer.
