I want a silver Xterra. In fact, I feel as though I need one. I would gladly give uptime, energy, and even sleep (one of my favorite hobbies) to earn the money for one.
And I’m sure that my dad would be willing to give up his money to help me to buy me this vehicle. This is the only thing that I want for my 17th birthday on May 1.There’s just one catch: I have never driven – not even once.
Quite frequently, my mom offers to teach me how to drive. I always refusebecause I’m just not ready to operate a motor vehicle. It’s just too much pressureand responsibility. I mean, I can’t jog down the street without tripping over a stickor running into a parked car. Yes, you read right. I have been known to run intothings.
I have driven with a lot friends my age and this adds to my notion that I am not ready. I promise not to mention any names, but I have to remind one friend that weare approaching a red light. Another one of my friends feels as if every time she’s on the road she’s in a race and she doesn’t want to be the loser. Having said this,my parents will probably insist on driving me everywhere from now on. Andspeaking of my parents, I know what they are up to. They figure that when I drive Ican run errands and escort my siblings everywhere. No thanks! I’m not ready for allof that stress, either.
I’ll learn to drive one day. Probably one day soon. And on that glorious day, Iwill notify and give everyone fair warning.
