Miss Scontrino, Gros will reign over SCC carnival

LAPLACE – St. Charles Catholic has announced its Krewe de Charles XIV carnivalball royal court. Thirteen couples competed for this year’s title of king and queen.The efforts of these students and their families raised $47,305 to be used for capital improvements at the school. The theme of the 14th annual event is “AnEvening of Reel Magic.” The Krewe de Charles XIV Bal Masque will take placeSaturday at 7 p.m. in the St. Charles Catholic High School gymnasium.Following the retirement of the royal court, the royal band, Misbehavin’, will perform. Tickets for the event are $6 each and can be purchased at the school.Representing “Ever After” as the queen of the Krewe de Charles XIV court is Nicole Scontrino, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joey Scontrino of LaPlace.The king of the Krewe de Charles XIV court is Adam Gros, son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Gros of LaPlace. Pages to their majesties are master Alex Roy and Jennifer Heltz. Roy is the son ofMr. and Mrs. Peter Roy of New Orleans, and Heltz is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Chris Heltz of Garyville.
Representing “Romeo and Juliet” are Kayla Hymel and Chris Martin. Hymel is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Hymel of Gramercy, and Martin is the son of DavidMartin and Rose Lodrigues of LaPlace.
Representing “Shakespeare in Love” are Amy Bourgeois and James Guidry III.
Bourgeois is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bourgeois of LaPlace, and Guidryis the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Guidry Jr. of LaPlace.Representing “The King and I” are Jennifer Billot and Jason Brauninger. Billot is thedaughter of Dr. and Mrs. Richard Doskey of Metairie, and Brauninger is the son ofMr. and Mrs. Barry Brauninger of St. Rose.Representing “Gone with the Wind” are Lesli Istre and Victor Prima Jr. Istre is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Istre of LaPlace, and Prima is the son of Victor PrimaSr. of Destrehan and the late Tina Prima.Representing “Cleopotra” are Melissa Billings and Mihran Naljayan. Billings is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Billings of LaPlace, and Naljayan is the son of Mr. andMrs. Vatche Naliayan of LaPlace.Representing “Camelot” are Mia Becnel and Jonathan Hymel. Becnel is the daughterof Mr. and Mrs. Kent Becnel of LaPlace, and Hymel is the son of Mr. and Mrs.Kenneth Hymel of Paulina.
Representing “Sayonara” are Courtney Tatman and John Mitchell. Tatman is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Tatman of LaPlace, and Mitchell is the son of Mr. andMrs. Scott Lukes of Destrehan and John Mitchell of New Roads.Representing “Titantic” are Abby Howard and James Cupit. Howard is the daughterof Mr. and Mrs. James Howard of LaPlace, and Cupit is the son of Mr. and Mrs.Andrew Cupit of LaPlace.
Representing “She Done Him Wrong” are Kori Kenton-Marie Theard and Kip Verbeek. Theard is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Theard of LaPlace, andVerbeek is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Verbeek of Ponchatoula.Representing “To Catch a Thief” are Mary Guillot and Jared Lorio. Guillot is thedaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Guillot of LaPlace, and Lorio is the son of Mr. andMrs. Greg Lorio of LaPlace.Representing “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” are Katie Keating and Matthew Fisse.
Keating is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Keating of LaPlace, and Fisse is theson of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Fisse of LaPlace.Representing “Rebecca” are Victoria Taurassi and Jonathan Juneau. Taurassi isthe daughter of Dianne Taurassi of Metairie and the late Michael Sigmon, and Juneau is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Juneau of Destrehan.Following the presentation of the royal court and the king and queen of the Krewe de Charles XIV, talented students from St. Charles Catholic will entertain the royalcourt and its audience.
