Deputies looking for E-Z Serve robber

LAPLACE – The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in findinga thief who got away with an undisclosed amount of money early Wednesday morning after robbing the E-Z Serve store at 901 E. AirlineHighway in front of the River Forest Subdivision.

St. John Parish Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Mike Tregre said deputies got acall from the store at 1:33 a.m. When police arrived at the scene thecashier told deputies a man had entered the store around 1:25 and bought a pack of gum. After paying for the gum the man put a black stocking maskover his face, leaned over the counter and told the cashier to “give me the money.” The cashier opened the cash register and gave the robber the money. Hethen walked outside and to the rear of the store, supposedly in the direction of the River Forest subdivision.

The cashier described the thief as a black male, about 6 feet tall and weighing around 230 pounds. He was dressed in a white, long-sleeved shirtwith black stripes and black jeans.

The suspect was videotaped as he robbed the store and Tregre said authorities are working on some strong leads at this time.
