Hahnville gets second conseuctive win

BOUTTE – Hahnville made it two ina row with a 24-19 victory at home against Ponchatoula.
Hahnville improved to 2-0 on the season while Ponchatoula fell to 0-2.
The beginning of the game saw Ponchatoula winning the toss and chosing to kick the ball off to the Tigers. Aaron Lyon for the Green Wave put theball at the Tigers 23 and a 13-yard return by Mark Young put the ball on the Tigers 36. Dawan Landry took the ball over the right side for a 23-yardgain. Now with the ball sitting on the 43-yard line, the hand off went toDarryl Honor up the middle and the ball popped free with Ponchatoula quickly pouncing on it at the 42 of the Tigers.
But dispite two first downs and the combination of runs by Ronald McClendon and Tremain Walker the Green Wave could only manage to reach the Tigers 35 before they was force to punt. Lyon set up to kick butfumbled at the 27 which was recovered by the Tigers.
Hahnville took it and went to Honor for four yards to their own 34 and with 6:52 into the first quarter, Landry found a streeking Young down the middle for a 66-yard touchdown. The point after by Kade Rogers was good,putting the score at 7-0.
The Tigers kick off to the Green Waves and they took over at their own 38.
But after five plays and with fourth-and-9 at their own 39, Lyon put a kick to the Tigers 47. The Tigers could not make any head way, and MattCummins came in to punt at 3:27, placing the ball at the Green Wave 8.
The second quarter started within the Tigers fumbling at the 9:21 mark, giving the ball to the Green Wave at the Tiger 20. McClendon scored tomake the score 7-6 at the 6:34 mark tafter the point after was no good.
The Tigers than went to work taking the ball from their own 40 and with 6:29 in the second, marched down the field with nifty running by Honor and Brooke Dufrene and a pass of 40 yards to Young for a touchdown. A goodpoint by Rogers the tigers now led 14-6 at the 2:08 mark After the Green Wave fumbled, the Tigers did not waste any time. A quickpass and a run up the middle put the ball at the 22 and in range for Rogers.
Rogers put it between the uprights, making the score 17-6.
McClendon scored on a pass to bring the Green Wave to within 17-12. ButHahnville came back with an 8-yard run by Honor putting the score at 24- 12.
Hahnville hosts Northside next Friday while Ponch-atoula returns home to play Destrehan.
