Burger King robbery, attempted murder suspect arrested

HAHNVILLE – A New Orleans man was arrested June 18 and charged with the armed robbery of the Ormond Boulevard Burger King and the attempted first-degree murder of its manager.

Christopher E. Sanborn, 23, 7477 Pitt St. Apt. C, was arrested bydetectives from New Orleans Police Department and St. Charles Sheriff’sOffice.

“Our detectives have been working closely with NOPD on this case and are pursuing leads to identify the other suspect in this robbery,” St. CharlesParish Sheriff Greg C. Champagne said.John Carroll, 34, was shot twice during the robbery and left for dead. Hewas treated at St. Charles Parish Hospital and is recovering at home.Sanborn is being held at the St. Charles Correctional Center in Hahnvilleunder a $1 million bond.

According to authorities, two men confronted the female employee at 12:45 a.m. behind the building as she was dumping grease after therestaurant was closed for the night. She was forced to admit them andthey demanded to see the manager.

The employee was then stripped of her uniform shirt and stashed in a walk-in cooler while they dealt with the manager. An undeterminedamount of cash was stolen and the manager was pistol-whipped and shot twice – in the right thigh and the left buttock, and left in the cooler as well.

The robbery victims escaped from the cooler after the robbers left the restaurant and called police.
