ABREO GRAMERCY – Corinne Lowry Abreo, 81, a native of Lutcher and a resident of Gramercy, died June 1. She was the wife of 61 years of William Abreo andmother of Kathleen Rice, Elinor Darnell, Lois Collier and William Jr. andJeff Abreo.

She was also the daughter of the late Richard P. and Corrine Keller Lowryand sister of Marquerite Erra, Marie Orillion and Valerie, Jeff, Richard, George, Francis, and the late Edwrd Lowry.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held June 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy.

ADAMS VACHERIE – David “Jai” Adams, 36, a native of Lucy and a resident of New Orleans, died May 29. He was the father of Anunka Lumar, Aeirelle Byrd,Christopher Green and Rashaud Jeffrey.

He was also the son of Abraham and Rosemarie Adams and brother of Robin LaGrange, Saundra Young, Angela and Robert Adams, Brian Hackett and Michael Harris.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were held June 3 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, withinterment at the church cemetery.

ADAMS RICHMOND, Va. – Hilda G. Adams, 83, a native of Wallace, former residentof New Orleans and resident of Richmond, Va., died May 16. She was themother of Janet Salahuddim and Carolyn Adams.

She was also the sister of Helen Kahn and Eloise Dyer.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren.

She was a retired teacher for the Orleans Parish School System.

Memorial services were held May 20 at Scott’s Funeral Home, Richmond.

BAZILE RESERVE – Adele Fiffie Bazile, 74, a native of Montz and a resident of LaPlace for 58 years, died May 31. She was the wife of John Bazile for 58years and mother of Dianne Goines, Cherlyn Dede and Brenda, Patrick, Joseph and Randolph Bazile.

She was also the daughter of the late Eugene and Olympia Pierre Fiffie and sister of Hilda Rhodes and the late Pearl Laurent, Gladiola Williams and Eva, Sidney, Lawrence and Jessie Fiffee.

She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church,Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

CADOGAN NEW ORLEANS – Melvina C. Cadogan, 93, a native of LaPlace and a residentof New Orleans for many years, died May 30. She was the wife of the lateStanford G. Cadogan.She was the daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Mary Antoinette Charlesand sister of Evelyn Brown and Leona White and preceded in death by nine sisters and brothers.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, NewOrleans, with interment at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery, New Orleans. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

CAMPBELL MARRERO – Rose “Calay” Percy Campbell, 88, a native of Edgard, former resident of New Orleans and resident of Harvey, died May 31. She was thestep-mother of Chris Weaver Jr.

She was the daughter of the late Will and Lorenza Roussell Percy and sister of the late Mary Smith, Elrena Smith and Wallace and Will Percy.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 4 at Davis Mortuary, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Park.

CANTRELL GREELEY, Colo. – Alfred Charles Cantrell, 70, a native of Norwalk, Ct.,former resident of Reserve and resident of Milliken, Colo., died May 28. Hewas the husband of Mary E. McCaa Cantrell and father of Patricia McNeal,Barbara LeBlanc, Richard Goebel and Robyn, Michael and Mark Cantrell.

He was also the son of the late Harold and Helen Parker Cantrell and brother of Mary Beth Morrell and Harold Cantrell.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was an employee at Godchaux Sugar Refinery for 12 years, a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran and a 32nd-degree Mason.Private services were held at Stoddard Funeral Home, Greeley, Colo.

COOKE LAPLACE – David Andrew Cooke, 1, a native and resident of LaPlace, died June 1. He was the son of Lisa Cooke and the late David A. Reed and brotherof Ivan Gould Jr., Airel Cooke and Michael and Jessica Reed.He was also the grandson of Kenneth and Juanita Cooke, Dean Hollaway and James Reed. He was also the great-grandson of Fritz Ponthieux, Evie Leeand the late Charles Cooke, Jimbob Ritter and Elnora Dubroc Ponthieux.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace,with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens. Visitation starts at 8:30a.m.

EDWARDS EDGARD – Elsie R. “Dee Dee” Edwards, 81, a native of St. Charles Parishand resident of Edgard, died May 31. She was the wife of the lateFerdinand Edwards Sr. and mother of Florence Brimmer, Elsie Jones,Constance Grows, Earline Allen, Margaret Morris, Gustavia Bailey, Cheryl Louper, Ernestine Tuckerson, Clarence, Tyrone, Allen and Murry Edwards and the late Ferdinand Edwards Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Augusta Rousselle and Bertha Baker and sister of Lory Rousselle, Elizabeth Scott, John Harris and the late Ernestine Green, Elnora Harris, Gustavia Green, Shirley Dixon and John Rousselle.

She is also survived by 46 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are today at noon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

NICHOLAS NEW ORLEANS – Hazel Caldwell Nicholas, 85, a native of Convent and a resident of the New Orleans area for 68 years, died May 31. She was thewife of the late James Robert Nicholas and mother of Arletta Pittman, Noyna Boseman, Hazel Slaughter, Jill Riggins and Ilona Turner.

She was also the daughter of the late Freddie and Irene Caldwell and sister of Eleanora Gibbs, Angela Leavell and Theodosia and Richard Caldwell.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Hartzell United Methodist Church, NewOrleans, with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park.

ROBICHEAUX DESTREHAN – Blanche Judith Rochelle Robicheaux, 92, a native of Paulina, former resident of Good Hope and resident of Destrehan, died June 1. Shewas the wife of the late Slattery “Slats” Robicheaux and mother of Joyce Zehnie and Charles, Robert, Francis and David Robicheaux.

She was also the daughter of the late George and Therese Guillot Rochelle and sister of Nola Weaver and William, Joseph “J.B.” and Vivian Rochelle.She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 3 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church,Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.

STEPHENS LAPLACE – Tammie Stephens, 36, a native of Charleston, W.Va., and aresident of LaPlace for 10 years, died June 2. She was the wife of DennisStephens and mother of Matthew and Adam Stephens.

She was also the daughter of Gregory and Susan Stapler Titlow and sister of Gregory, David and Thomas Titlow.

She is also survived by her grandmother, Dorothy Stapler.

Services were held June 3 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, South Charleston, W.Va.

WINFIELD RESERVE – Wilbert Alex Winfield, 77, a native of Garyville, former resident of St. Albans, N.Y., for 41 years and resident of Reserve for 15years, died May 27. He was the husband of Frances Mayhew Winfield.He was also the son of the late Collins and Ernestine Bonaparte Winfield and foster brother of Rosa Desselle.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a retired engineer for theNew York City Transit Authority.

Services were held June 3 at New Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
