The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. Drawings are to be held on the 28th of each month. For ticket information call coach Don Fernandez at St. Charles Catholic at652-3029.
The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation islooking for residents of St. Charles Parish who turn 50 by Dec. 31, 1999for its spring mixed senior bowling league.
The spring bowling league is being formed to bowl three games during a 15 week period using a four-person format. The St. Charles Parish Parks andRecreation Department will assist with fees.
The league is held at River Bend Lanes in LaPlace on Mondays at 10 a.m. onthe following dates: Jan. 4, 11, 18, 25; Feb. 1, 8, 15, 22; March 1, 8, 15,22, 29; and April 5 and 12.
This is a just for fun league; win or lose the awards are the same. Toqualify for an award, a bowler must have bowled 50 percent of the scheduled games.

S.P.A.C.E. (Supporting Parks and Children Equally), a non-profitorganization, will be hosting an instruction baseball clinic Jan. 23, 1999,at The Glade School from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.The clinic will feature Treinadad Hubbard of the Los Angeles Dodgers, St.
James native Lenny Webster of the Baltimore Orioles, Riverside Academy’s Carl Schultz of the Chicago Cubs, East St. John’s DarrylNicholas of the Milwaukee Brewers and Thomas Pittman of the Montreal Expos along with the support of Aaron Lombard, Community Relations Director for the New Orleans Zephyrs and a host of other minor and major league athletes.
Registration will take place Saturday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at theWal-Mart Shopping Center on Airline Highway in LaPlace.
The instructional clinic will be geared toward teaching the fundamental skills of baseball for children ages 8-16 years-old. The cost of the clinicwill be $20 per child.
All proceeds will benefit parish recreation. Participants will beresponsible for providing their own shoes and gloves.
Southeastern Louisiana University’s Lions basketball head coach John Lyles and his staff will be the host again this year for their Hardwood Club Game-Day breakfasts.
The breakfasts, which are open to the public, take place at the SLU Alumni Center Banquet Room from 7-8 a.m. Complimentary coffee, juice anddonuts will be available as Lyles discusses SLU’s game that night. TheHardwood Club will hold breakfasts this year for the following games: Jan.

Southeastern Louisiana University will begin its eighth season with the SLU Sports Radio Network this season. This year’s announcing team features play-by-play announcer Mark Willoughby and former Lions basketball player Duane Donald. Willoughbyhas been the voice of Lions basketball since the 1994-95 season.

The Chrysler Junior Golf Scholarship Program will award 40 $1,000 educational scholarships to America’s most deserving junior golfers.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St.
Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.
The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.
Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
