WCKW-1010 AM will broadcast River Parishes Sports Talk live from the Pizza Factory in Gramercy every Thursday night from 6:15-7 p.m. The guest speakers this week are head football coaches Rick Gaille of St. James High School and Tim Detillier of Lutcher High School.

St. Charles Catholic Quarterback Club meetings will be held everyTuesday night in the school cafeteria from now through the end of the season.

WCKW-1010 AM will broadcast the Riverside Rebel coach’s show from the school cafeteria tonight at 6:30 p.m. The station will also broadcastthe Rebels’ game against St. Martin’s Friday night beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Riverside Academy Quarterback Club will hold meetings every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The St. Charles Catholic Athletic Association is holding a monthly$1,000 raffle. Only 100 tickets will be sold each month at a cost of $20per ticket. The Louisiana Soccer Association, in conjunction with the South Tangi Youth Soccer Association, will host the fourth annual State Coaching Symposium from 7-11 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. onSaturday at the Holiday Inn and S.T.Y.S.A. Fields in Hammond.The symposium is open to all coaches and is endorsed by the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association and U.S. Soccer. The cost is $40which includes a reception on Friday evening.

The theme of the symposium is 4 versus 4 for under 6 to under 23 teams.

The guest clinicians are Bill Buren, the Director of Coaching for the Brevard Soccer Club; and Virgil Stringfield, the Director of Coaching for the Arkansas State Soccer Association. Both are U.S. Soccer National Staffcoaches and creators of the National Youth License.

Southeastern Louisiana University’s 6th annual golf scramble fundraiser has been set for Friday at Santa Maria Country Club in Baton Rouge.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The field islimited to 25 foursomes and is open to men and women.

The entry fee is $65 per person which includes a cart, refreshments, a gift package, dinner following the tournament and individual prizes for closest to the hole and longest drive. All proceeds from the tournament willbenefit SLU athletics.

The St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring hunter safetyclasses that are free of charge Nov. 17-19 and 21.All classes will be held at the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office DivisionHeadquarters in LaPlace. The Louisiana Soccer Association announces a meeting of the Latin American Soccer Coaches Association Nov. 20 from 7-10 p.m. at theHoliday Inn in Metairie.

The meeting is open to all coaches.

Juan Carlos Michia, the regional U-14 coaching coordinator for U.S. Soccer,will cover topics such as the Olympic Development Program and coaching education through U.S. Soccer. All Hispanic coaches, administrators,referees, parents and players are invited.

St. Charles Catholic Head Baseball Coach Frank Monica is holdingtwo baseball camps at the school over the Christmas holidays. A camp forpitchers and catchers will be held Dec. 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.The costs for the camp is $60.

A camp for hitters will be held Dec. 28-30 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The costis $90.

Season ticket packages for the 1998-99 Nicholls State University home basketball games are now available from the athletic ticket office.

Four different plans are available and include 13 men’s and 13 women’s home contests.

Reserved seats behind the player’s bench are $98, while Upper Chairback or Lower General Admission are $68 apiece and Upper General Admission is priced at $53. Season parking privileges are also available for $5.The men’s exhibition season begins Nov. 8 against VASDA, while thewomen have a Nov. 11 preseason affair with the Houston Jaguars. The Chrysler Junior Golf Scholarship Program will award 40 $1,000 educational scholarships to America’s most deserving junior golfers.

Special Olympics Louisiana’s new “Share the Victory” motor vehicle recycling program allows anyone in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, St. Tammany and St. Charles parishes to turn extra or unwantedvehicles into “something special for Special Olympics.”An individual can call the “Share the Victory” toll-free number and Special Olympics will arrange to tow away their motor vehicle for free.

The vehicle will be recycled into the funds needed to support the year- round program of sports training and athletic competition for mentally- retarded children and adults in Louisiana.

Vehicles can be in any condition to qualify as long as the owner has the title. Consumers may also be able to take advantage of a tax deduction asthe fair market price of the vehicle is considered a tax deductible donation to Special Olympics.
