Be careful out there…

Thursday morning was not like any other. For one thing, there was awakening at 3 a.m. and meeting the narcotics detectives at 4:30 a.m. There was the opportunity to observe as they swarmed onto a suspected illegal-drug “supermarket.” There was the camaraderie of the officers andthe care in which they watch out for each other. I enjoy the company oflaw enforcement officers. There’s a blunt honesty which pervades mostdepartments. There are always one or two in every bunch who may be ormay become problems or embarrassments. On the whole, though, these arepretty good people who do a pretty rough job. I’m glad they’re doing it. I’m even more glad I’m not.
