Riverside, Scc Place 11 On All-District 9-2A Team

LAPLACE -Class 2A state championship game opponents Riverside and St. Charles Catholic combined to place 11 players on the All-District 9-2A softball team announced recently.
Riverside, which won the district championship with a 10-0 record, placed six players on the squad led by most valuable player Tanya Teague.
Teague, a junior pitcher, led the Lady Rebel staff with a 24-7 record and 170 strikeouts in 139 innings.
Katie Brady, a junior catcher, batted .381 with 22 runs batted in. MelissaMartin, a senior, was named as an outfielder after batting a team-high .513 with eight home runs, 20 stolen bases and 41 RBIs. Senior MarcyRemondet, the team’s lead-off hitter, was also selected as an outfielder.
Mandy Roussel, a senior first baseman, batted .342 with seven stolenbases and 21 RBIs. Junior third baseman Courtney St. Amant was alsoselected as an infielder.
Named to the honorable mention team from the Lady Rebels were outfielder Bridget Lambert, shortstop Amy Trepagnier and second baseman Ashley Bourgeois.
St. Charles Catholic, which defeated Riverside, 2-1, for the statechampionship, placed five on the all-district team. Sophomore pitcherMarci Martin went 19-7 this season with three no-hitters, 155 strikeouts and a 1.41 ERA. Her battery mate, senior catcher Kori Guillory, made theteam with a .278 batting average and 23 RBIs.Shannon Dolive, Alisha Reine and Kristin Oberschmidt were named to the infield. Dolive, a junior shortstop, batted .361 with 27 RBIs and 30 runsscored. Reine, a junior second baseman, had a team-high .394 battingaverage. Oberschmidt, a senior first baseman, batted .246 with a .301slugging percentage.
Senior outfielder Casey Faust was named to the honorable mention team from the Lady Comets.
Filling out the all-district team were senior pitcher Kristen Mayberry and senior catcher Jill Tucker from Ecole Classique, Ridgewood junior infielder Jackie Levy and St. Martin’s senior infielder Meghan Becnel.Named to the honorable mention team were West St. John’s Reshonn Saul,Ecole Classique’s Kelly Cooper and Athena Monteleone, St. Martin’s EmilyBordelon and Ridgewood’s Mindy Livaudais.
