Student Killed in Wreck

LULING – A 19-year-old Nicholls State University student and HahnvilleHigh School graduate died Friday morning on U.S. Highway 90 in a trafficaccident.
According to the accident report from Louisiana State Trooper ShoneJackson, Christina B. Broach, 102 Christina Court, was westbound on U.S.90 approaching St. Anthony Street, driving a blue 1990 Chevrolet Prizm inthe left lane behind another vehicle at 6:45 a.m.
Jackson’s report continued the vehicle in front abruptly slowed down andBroach pulled into the right lane, then back into the left ahead of the othervehicle. She then lost control of her car, went over the raised median andinto the eastbound lane. There, her car was struck on the passenger side bya 1995 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Hayes J. Porche, 55, 2809Dularge Road, Theriot.
Broach was pronounced dead at the scene. Porche received minor injuriesto his right hand which did not required immediate medical attention.Broach was a 1996 graduate of Hahnville High School, where she had beena cheerleader, soccer trainer, member of the track team and member ofthe Beta Club, Student Council and choir.
At Nicholls she majored in computer information systems and was alsoworking as a teller at First National Bank of St. Charles.vShe was the daughter of Robert Sr. and Nancy Broach and sister of NatalieRuth, Sarah and Robby Broach Jr.Services were held Monday at Boutte Assembly of God Church withinterment at St. Charles Mausoleum, Luling.
