Thibodaux man dies in fiery camper explosion incident

Deputies from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating an explosion and fire that resulted in the death of a 63-year-old man from Thibodaux.

The explosion and fire occurred on Wednesday, March 12, at approximately 3 p.m. The St. John Fire Department responded to a report of an explosion and fire involving a camper trailer in the 100 block of Greenwood Plantation Road, Thibodaux.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered the camper trailer ablaze and the victim inside a nearby home. Emergency crews administered first aid and airlifted the man to a hospital in New Orleans, where he later died.

At this time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
