LAPLACE – Unlike the last few years, Mother Nature cooperated perfectly with Saturday and Sunday’s line-up of parades rolling in St. John the Baptist Parish as parade goers enjoyed clear skies and sunshine all weekend.

On Saturday the Krewe of Tohwahpasah rolled in Reserve. The parade featured numerous floats and several elected parish officials were also part of the festivities.

The king and queen of Tohwahpasah are always announced the day of the parade, and this year Queen Myra Weber and King Kent Terrio served as royalty of the festivities.

On Sunday, Krewe du Monde, the largest parade in the River Parishes, rolled. A parade with a purpose, du Monde is a fundraiser for the local chapter of the Lion’s Club. New to the parade this year was a trailer that ran at the end of the 30 float procession. Parade participants were able to throw beads back into the trailer, and the beads will be sorted and resold by the ARC of St. John.

William Ironside and Kelsey Tatje shared the spotlight as King and Queen du Monde XXXV.
