CONVENT — A River Parishes sex offender was sentenced to four years in jail, authorities said, for failing to disclose his residence with law enforcement.

Shane Louque, 31, of Gramercy pleaded guilty Tuesday to failure to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator. As per the plea agreement with prosecutors, Louque was sentenced to four years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The sentence is to be served without benefit of suspension.

On Nov. 3, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a Paulina home in reference to a complainant needing someone removed from his residence. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the complainant, who said Louque had been living there for approximately two weeks.

The complainant told deputies he learned Louque was a registered sex offender and wanted him removed. Deputies made contact with Louque as he was exiting the home’s back door.

After noticing the deputies, Louque fled on foot, but deputies were able to apprehend Louque shortly after.

Louque pleaded guilty in 2010 to felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

Assistant District Attorney Adam Koenig prosecuted Louque in Judge Thomas Kliebert’s courtroom.
