LAPLACE — Karen Trichell has been chosen as the Eighth Grade Student of the Year for the entire Archdiocese of New Orleans.

She was selected based on criteria that measured academic achievement, outstanding leadership skills, character and significant involvement in her school and community.

She is the daughter of Steve and Tammy Trichell, both alumni of St. Charles Catholic High School.

Trichell will represent all non-public schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans district at the regional level of competition in Baton Rouge.
