LAPLACE — Detectives are looking to establish a motive and reconstruct the timeline before a local woman was shot dead and left on a LaPlace road, authorities said.
“We are asking for any assistance, even if it’s just rumors,” St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff Mike Tregre said Tuesday morning. “We’re just looking for any assistance we can get right now.”
Tregre said a 911 caller alerted authorities to a body lying in the road, which led to the 3 a.m. Monday discovery of Tameka Robinson, 39, of LaPlace.
Authorities said Robinson was shot and killed, although a motive for the shooting is unknown at this time.
According to Tregre, deputies have been told the victim suffered from a narcotics problem, was a recent transplant from Kenner and was often seen walking. Robinson was discovered near the intersection of Louisiana 628 and Cardinal Street in LaPlace.
Anyone with information regarding the killing is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
Tipsters that call Crimestoppers do not have to testify and may qualify for a cash reward. Tips can be submitted at stjohnsheriff.org/submitatip.php.
