LAPLACE — Elegance of Perfection Kids, opening next weekend in LaPlace, introduces the first chemical-free children’s spa to the River Parishes with a sweet twist, company officials said.
Located at 299 Belle Terre Blvd. Suite C, the shop is a uniquely themed “spa bakery,” offering dessert inspired pedicure and facial products in addition to Cupcake Hour parties allowing children to become little bakers in charge.
Regular business hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 to 7 p.m. on Sundays, and walk-ins are available in between party reservations. Weekday visits are appointment only and must be scheduled ahead of time.
When children walk through the doors of Elegance of Perfection Kids, they are met with bright, colorful surroundings resembling a doll house and have the choice of purchasing adorable tutus and fairy wings to wear as they are pampered.
At the Mini Diva Spa station, they can relax in comfortable chairs and experience cookie dough, bubble gum, cotton candy and ice cream sugar scrub pedicures made with natural, mild ingredients, according to business owner Trinesha Bartholomew.
“It’s all chemical-free,” Bartholomew said. “Everything is kid friendly and non-invasive. We don’t use scrapers or equipment.
“You don’t have to bring your kid to the nail salon with you, where they’re surrounded by chemicals and fumes, because we do everything here from pedicures to manicures and makeup.”
Canvas and pumpkin painting activities are also available, giving children another creative outlet.
Spa services are a new addition with the opening of the LaPlace shop, but Bartholomew has already hosted Cupcake Hour parties at the Esplanade Mall and will continue doing so at the new location.
Children can decorate cupcakes and other sweets such as cookies or doughnuts with colorful icing and special add-ons including a chocolate dipping station.
Cupcake Hour birthday parties are all-inclusive, according to Bartholomew, who said she will provide all baking ingredients, a dedicated party space with children’s chairs and tables, a birthday cake for the guest of honor, plates, utensils, napkins and an apron and chef hat for each pastry chef.
Hotdogs, chips and pizza are available upon request.
Elegance of Perfection Kids is a family business run in conjunction with Elegance of Perfection Arrangements, a fresh fruit and confectionery catering corporation owned by Bartholomew’s sister, Ashaunta Gross.
Under the helpful direction of their mother and manager Trina Pearley-Brown, the sisters joined forces and are operating from the same building.
Bartholomew’s mother-in-law, Stephanie Bartholomew, also helps with business operations.
Gross said she began her catering business six years ago in Lutcher before moving to the Esplanade Mall in Kenner.
She is now coming to LaPlace and offering the same services, specializing in creating professional fruit centerpieces and special-made desserts for birthday parties, weddings and other events.
Gross’ business enhances her sister’s by adding to the bakery theme. Delicacies including chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels, ooey gooeys, cupcakes, OREO balls and more are available to Elegance of Perfection Kids guests.

Bartholomew said Elegance of Perfection Kids has received positive response from the community, adding she’s already booked five parties prior to officially opening.
“I want people to bring their daughters and know we’re on Facebook and Instagram,” Bartholomew said. “Every little girl deserves to be treated like a princess and pampered.”
