RESERVE — A Kenner man was arrested over the weekend, charged with domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim with child endangerment, as well as home invasion, police said.
According to the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies observed a Dodge Durango traveling with one headlight at approximately 8:45 p.m. Saturday.
A traffic stop at East 22nd Street and Airline Highway in Reserve led deputies to make contact with the driver, identified as Jonathan Handy, 25, of Kenner.
“During the stop, officers observed Handy’s nervous demeanor and discovered a passenger holding a baby in his lap,” a Sheriff’s Office release said.
Upon searching the vehicle, deputies said they discovered a handgun under the floor mat of the passenger back seat.
A criminal check revealed Handy is a convicted felon with an active warrant for simple damage to property – under $500, home invasion and domestic abuse battery.
Handy was booked with possession of a firearm/carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, simple damage to property, home invasion and domestic abuse battery of a pregnant victim with child endangerment.
He is being held in custody in lieu of a $41,000 bond.
