Ochsner nears LaPlace opening: Community enjoys look before late-summer launch

LAPLACE — The mood was festive this week at the site of the soon-to-open Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes.
Located near Tiffany Drive and Airline Highway in LaPlace, the freestanding $12 million medical facility is scheduled to open its doors later this summer.
After its opening, Ochsner’s current location on Rue de Sante in LaPlace will be converted into a behavioral health services center.

Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner CEO Stephen Robinson Jr., other hospital leaders and River Region Chamber of Commerce staffers hosted Chamber Perks Wednesday morning, giving community members a sneak peek of a facility Robinson promises will be state-of-the-art.
Robinson told the crowd that the facility’s location in the heart of LaPlace allows medical team members to treat patients faster.
Wednesday’s gathering was hosted in the complex’s general emergency room waiting area.
Donna Pellerin, Chris Cancienne and Kim Bourgeois attended Wednesday’s Chamber Perks at Ochsner Medical Complex – River Parishes. Pellerin and Bourgeois represent Louisiana Federal Credit Union, while Cancienne runs Cypress Physical Therapy.
Hospital leaders said building the facility from the ground up allowed Ochsner to customize the facility to the region’s needs.
In announcing the news last year, Ochsner leaders said the LaPlace location would cover 20,000 square feet and house a 24-hour, 7-day a week freestanding emergency department accommodating 13 beds with onsite laboratory and radiology services using advanced technologies.
“In addition, the Ochsner TeleStroke program will be available at this location to provide lifesaving interventions for patients experiencing a stroke,” Ochsner announced.
“This addition of virtual expertise has proven to significantly improve outcomes for these patients.”
