Thirteen St. John Parish high school juniors attended the American Legion Boys State program at Northwestern State in Natchitoches, which concluded today. The effort focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with governmental bodies and elected public officials. The American Legion interviews top students chosen by their respective schools at the end of their junior year and, based on several factors — grades, community activity, aspirations — selects the participants. Those selected included were, back, from left, Mason Scioneaux, Aaron Hutchinson, Adam Forsythe, Javohn Washington, James Binder, Justin Mitchell, Carlin Bartholomew; front, Edgar Folgar, Brian Priced, Reese Bordelon. Darrel Bailey Jr. is not pictured.
