SJA students take on VFW Americanism Contest

Students in kindergarten through seventh grades at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School participated in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Americanism Contest. Awards were presented to the top entries in each class in five categories.

Third and fourth grade students competed in Category III. They drew pictures of historical events. The winners were, from left, front, Nathaly Villezcas, 1st place; Addison Abbate, 2nd place; Dax Pregeant, 3rd place; Destiny Walker, 3rd place; Molly Brady, 2nd place; Hayden Williams, 1st place; back, Conner Carter, 1st place in his class and 2nd place in District 2; Kaylee Brown, 2nd place; Ava Vicknair, 3rd place; Dylan Smith, 1st place; Dane Galiano, 2nd place; and Jenna Chauvin, 3rd place.
Students in 5th grade wrote essays on ‘How I Honor Veterans’ in 300 words or less. The top three essays at SJA were written by Jay Childs, 1st place; from left, Alyse Chauvin, 2nd place; and Brianne Cashio, 3rd place.
Sixth grade students participated in the Patriots Pen contest, writing essays on ‘The America I Believe In,’ using 300 to 400 words. The winners were, from left, Morgan Pero, 3rd place; Nathan Abadie, 2nd place; and Michael Hotard, 1st place at school and 2nd place in District 2.
