John Farthing, William Ledet, Bryce Ledet and Alex Waguespack attended Operation LA Connections at Camp Grant Walker in Pollock. The camp, planned by the State 4-H Citizenship Board along with adult volunteers and 4-H faculty, whipped 4-H members into shape while teaching them about the lives of the military heroes and their families.
St. John 4-H Agent Joseph Sylvain serves as a board advisor. While at camp St. John 4-H’ers made friends from other parishes, took part in many fun and interactive workshops and participated in numerous service learning projects.
Highlights of the weekend included, Skyping with a 4-H member’s father who is stationed in Afghanistan, making collars for service dogs and preparing holiday packages for service personnel abroad.
