Q: Tell us about the season.
A: We (started the week) 8-4-1. We have had a solid season this year after replacing two four-year players in Jacob Jensen and Daniel Jaubert, who graduated last year. We returned three of our top five players — Mikey Landry, who finished second in state last year; Will Torres, who has been playing really well after recovering from ACL surgery from a football injury; and Jeffrey Cupit, our only senior, who has been our most consistent player.
Kenny Matar, who has stepped into the fourth spot, has experience and has improved from a year ago. Newcomer Jacob Twiner is our fifth golfer.
We have a veteran team with a lot of experience and one of top 10 golfers in the state in Landry. We have played a very tough schedule on a variety of courses. We are at the point now where we are looking forward to the postseason. We know that we will have tough challenges in our division, which is one of best in state.
Q: What’s coming up?
A: We have one week left to regular season then the postseason playoff tournaments. Today we play Holy Cross away.
The postseason is as follows”
Tuesday: District meet at Squirrel Run in New Iberia. The top four teams advance to Regionals. We finished third last year.
April 25 — Regionals at Greystone in Denham Springs. We will be matched with University High, Dunham, Episcopal and Parkview. The top four advance to state. We finished third last year and advanced to state.
May 1-2 — State Tournament at Farm D’Allie in Lafayette. We were runner up to University last year.
